Every week I ask my three kids to rate each of their classes at HSC on a scale of 1 to 10. My eldest is more rational and grounded, and she gives her classes a 10! My younger two are rather expressive, and they inevitably rate their classes “A HUNDRED” out of 10! Even on hard days when they may have had friend trouble or difficulties learning a new skill, they still sing high praises and look forward to “Friday classes” ♡

Amanda Holiday

All 3 of my children were enrolled in Amanda Holiday’s math classes this year. We will enroll in her classes as long as she offers them! My kids are always engaged during her hour long classes and she explains the concepts so well to them. We would likely sign up for ANYTHING she offers.

My child enjoys Mrs. Holiday’s math class because he is able to understand it and she makes learning math more fun. As a parent,  Mrs. Holiday’s positive engagement and energy with the children is amazing to see/hear.  I wish I discovered her for my oldest. I highly recommend Mrs. Holiday to any student because she has the true ability/passion to teach math. Online math with Mrs. Holiday worked for us by keeping my son on task with math through our homeschool journey!

Holly Dodson

Ms. Holly Dodson has been an excellent Language Arts instructor for our two girls over the last two years. We have enjoyed her instruction so much that both of my daughters are taking three separate classes from her this year! Thank you for providing such an invaluable platform matching high-quality instructors with students.

Mrs. Holly Dodson is an incredible teacher! She manages to engage all her students and fosters a very positive environment for everyone. My daughter has loved learning in all of her classes with Mrs. Holly. I would highly recommend the writing class for struggling writers. My once reluctant writer has produced great writing work samples thanks to Mrs. Holly. And the Social Studies class covers all of the standards for 2nd grade, and more. They are both great classes. We look forward to continuing classes with Mrs. Holly in the years to come.

My daughter took Mrs. Dodson’s creative writing class this year and she loved it! This was our first time having Mrs. Dodson as a teacher, and I was so impressed with her. The class was engaging, well thought out, and she graded the homework so quickly with encouraging, yet constructive words. My daughter grew immensely in her ability to write this year due to Mrs. Dodson’s help and encouragement. She now wants to be a writer when she grows up! Thank you, Mrs. Dodson!

Mrs. Holly’s classes are like a treasure trove of learning for all ages. Each class is as unique as a different jewel and just as valuable. My son, Elijah, has been taking her classes for years because she keeps it interesting, challenging, applicable, and enjoyable. He is storing up a wealth of knowledge and life-long love of learning. Highly recommend!
The books were age appropriate with a mixture of fiction and non-fiction, challenging them to view circumstances through the lens of the protagonist to develop better compassion for what others are going through. It helped improve critical thinking skills as well.

Elijah loved the class. He found the books interesting, the assignments fun, and the classroom encouraging. He loves how the classes are always different and unique.

My daughter struggled to start writing a paragraph on her own. After a semester in Holly Dodson’s Beginning IEW class, she is now writing three paragraphs with ease. Thank you for building and strengthening her writing skills. It has completely transformed her as a writer. I would strongly recommend this class to anyone.

Jennifer Murphy

Mrs. Jennifer Murphy is an incredible teacher. As I navigate through college life at Biola University, her guidance and thoughtful lectures/discussions have been heavily influential on my life. I credit all of my literary skills to her, as well as the ability to listen thoughtfully and reply respectfully. She is a joy and, without a doubt, the best teacher I have ever had. No matter the subject, you will learn a lot in a class taught by her, but also learn how to apply these essential skills.

My son took several of Mrs. Murphy’s high school English classes, as well as personal finance and study skills. He grew so much as a writer in her classes, and has mentioned multiple times that Mrs. Murphy had a huge impact on his passion for writing and his growth as a writer. He is now a screen writing/business major at Biola University. Mrs. Murphy remains his favorite teacher in any classroom setting!

Ms. Murphy runs a great class. The curriculum is demanding and she has high expectations of her students. Conversely, she is willing to work with each individual student at their own level and understands that students are faced with different challenges and abilities. I highly recommend her English class.

My classes with Jennifer Murphy of Murphy Language Arts were some of the best classes that I have ever taken. Ms. Murphy is a fantastic teacher, passionate and knowledgeable about the material and invested in making sure that you are getting a great learning experience. There is so much about reading, writing, and literature that I have come to enjoy thanks to Ms. Murphy, not to mention the ways that she helped me to improve my writing and comprehension abilities. For example, I used to be terrible at commas, not really knowing when they should be used. Now, I am much more confident when it comes to using commas, even to the point where I have been called the “comma police.” Ms. Murphy’s classes are also extremely enjoyable, especially when the discussions go beyond the surface. Overall, I cannot recommend her enough. Ms. Murphy provided great classes that gave me knowledge, skill, and confidence, and she is no doubt my favorite teacher.

Mrs. Lynne Morgan from Murphy Language Arts, was such an awesome teacher for English Lit. She made sure the students were engaged and participating. She was also very helpful if you had any questions on how to do an assignment. I would highly recommend this class.

Kameron Von der Ahe

My daughter has loved the baking class on Friday’s at Capo Beach, CA. Kameron, from Creative Crteatures & Co., has chosen some really excellent lessons for the kids to learn how to bake as well as work as a team and clean up the space when they’re done. She’s always done on time, which is highly appreciated. My daughter looks forward to Friday mornings every week!

We took creative creatures art class for both semesters. I don’t know the names of the teachers but my daughter LOVES that class. They do so many cute and unique art works. Its very enriching. We would love to take the class again next year.

Rebecca Scott’s geometry class was a lot of fun, and this is all due to her very fun and light personality. Class starts with a review of how your week was, which is a great chance for students to get to know their teacher and other students. She also has a very judgment free zone in her class, as I never felt nervous if I needed to ask for help with a question. I would definitely recommend taking her class.

Rebecca Scott has proven to be an effective and important Math resource for our family. She has taught two of our sons in middle school and High School math. My daughter took Rebecca Scott’s math classes for 4 years through Algebra II and I was so pleased with her teaching style. She understands each students learning style and is able to help them succeed. My daughter enjoyed her so much she also took her chemistry and forensic science classes. In addition she tutored her for one of her classes. Outside of that she was always responsive and communicated well with me and was happy to provide our charter with anything they needed. In closing, I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Rebecca over the years.
